Make a nomination

Anyone wanting an individual to be conferred with a Swedish honour should make a nomination. In Sweden, the tradition is not to propose oneself for honours. Indeed, section 6 of the Statutes of the Orders even stipulates that this forever excludes an individual from the possibility of being conferred with a Royal Swedish Order of Knighthood. Nominations should aim to describe outstanding actions beyond what can be expected as part of an individual’s service or mission. The name of the person who made the nomination is not disclosed.

Anyone wishing for an individual – Swedish, foreign or stateless – to be conferred with a Royal Order of Knighthood for personal endeavours for Sweden or for Swedish interests, should use the nomination form for Royal Orders – see the link below.

  • The Order of the Seraphim – for the Swedish Royal House and, by recommendation of the government, chiefly heads of state or individuals of equivalent status.

  • The Order of the Polar Star – for individuals who have made personal endeavours for Sweden or for Swedish interests, particularly within public activities, as well as the successful performance of public tasks and duties.
  • The Order of Vasa for individuals who have made personal endeavours for Sweden or for Swedish interests, particularly within private-sector activities, as well as the successful performance of public tasks and duties.
