Wearing of Decorations
Decorations (orders and medals) in original size are worn with white tie (equivalent). Decoration miniatures can be worn with white tie but also with black tie in ceremonial contexts. Decorations are worn only in original size with suit and tie.
The King’s Medal of the twelfth size is worn with a chain or ribbon around the neck. Women, however, wear the medal with a large bow on the left shoulder. It can also be worn with black tie and suit and tie, but only on a chain with white tie.
Royal commemorative tokens and commemorative medals are worn on the chest in front (to the wearer’s right) of other decorations. Other official or semi-official medals and decorations are worn after (to the wearer’s left) the royal medals.
When decorations are not prescribed, receipt of an honour may be marked with one (1) bouton, medal bow or clip for black tie or suit and tie at an official or private function in honour of a person present or otherwise as justified by the circumstances
From mid-chest to the left shoulder of the wearer are worn (in the following order) the Seraphim Medal, H.M. The King’s Medal of eighth or fifth size in gold, the Medal Litteris et Artibus, the Prince Eugen Medal and the Prince Carl Medal, and H.M. The King’s medal in silver.
